JinkoSolar, the global leading PV and ESS supplier, recently has signed an exclusive supply agreement with India’s leading developer and contractor, ACME Group, to provide N-type TOPCon modules for a 487.5MW photovoltaic hydrogen production project in Oman. This marks JinkoSolar’s first large-scale photovoltaic hydrogen project in Oman and highlights its N-type TOPCon technology, which offers higher power generation per watt, superior all-day performance, and greater overall energy yield. These advantages, combined with breakthroughs in levelized cost of electricity (LCOE), set a new benchmark for green hydrogen cost-effectiveness globally.

In Oman’s harsh conditions, with an average of 2,300 annual sunshine hours and temperatures exceeding 50°C, JinkoSolar’s N-type TOPCon modules demonstrate exceptional performance. Features such as low degradation rates, low temperature coefficients, high bifacial ratio, UV resistance, wind load resistance, hail resistance, sand protection, and high reliability design ensure optimal performance in high irradiation, extreme temperatures, large diurnal temperature variations, and sandstorms. In desert environments with high reflectivity, the modules’ 85% bifacial ratio significantly enhances rear-side power conversion efficiency, delivering an additional 3%-5% energy yield compared to conventional bifacial modules. Key technological innovations include:

ž   Higher power generation per watt: N-type TOPCon modules generate over 6% more clean electricity annually on the same land area.

ž   Efficiency optimization in extreme conditions: -0.29%/°C temperature coefficient increases power generation per watt by over 2% during high-temperature periods, while superior low-light performance extends daily generation by approximately 1.8 hours.

ž   Lifecycle cost reduction: A bifacial double-glass structure ensures a 30-year linear power warranty, combined with optimized design choices that lower initial balance-of-system (BOS) costs, driving overall LCOE reductions of over 8%.

Located in Oman’s Duqm Special Economic Zone, this green hydrogen project holds significant strategic importance. Phase one is expected to produce 100,000 tons of green ammonia annually, with plans to scale up to 1.2 million tons per year. By continuously advancing TOPCon technology to enhance photovoltaic system efficiency, JinkoSolar’s implementation of this project in Oman could drive the green hydrogen industry beyond industry thresholds and accelerate deep decarbonization in key sectors such as heavy industry.
