SHANGHAI, March 21, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- JinkoSolar Holding Co., Ltd. ("JinkoSolar" or the "Company") (NYSE: JKS), a leading global PV solar power product manufacturer, today announces that it will partner with Shanghai Jiaotong University ("SJTU") in the construction of its solar-powered house, including JinkoSolar high quality Solar PV modules for the 2013 Solar Decathlon China. The ground breaking ceremony and demonstration project for the solar-powered house was held on Wednesday, March 20th, 2013 in SJTU's Minhang Campus. Over 20 teams of the selected best students from worldwide universities will participate in the first Solar Decathlon China, which will take place in Datong, China in mid-August. The collegiate teams compete to design, build, and operate solar-powered houses that are cost-effective, energy-efficient and style-attractive. As one of the participating teams, students from SJTU have spent months in the preparation of designing and building an elegant southern Chinese-style house perfectly equipped with modern energy-efficient appliances powered by 13 kilowatt JinkoSolar PV panels. With the proper angled roof engineered to capture sunlight, the house does not require any electric lights during the day. Without sacrificing comfort and style in pursuit of renewable energy utilization, the solar panels on the rooftop array are adjustable to maximize sun exposure in a wide range of climates. The prototype house will be kept on STJU's Minhang Campus upon completion and used as an international students' activities center. "We are excited to have the opportunity to work with JinkoSolar to demonstrate the environmental and economic benefits of solar power," stated Mr. Huang Zhen, Vice President of Shanghai Jiaotong University. "By taking a leadership role in the advancement of renewable energy, we are not only proving solar power's practical use to other educational institutions, but also providing the building's electricity requirements. We hope this project will serve as a model and as an effective teaching tool for SJTU students across various disciplines." Mr. Xiande Li, Chairman of JinkoSolar added, "We are proud of partnering with SJTU to deliver this state-of-the-art eco-friendly house utilizing JinkoSolar's highly efficient and reliable solar PV panels. SJTU's Photovoltaic Institution and JinkoSolar both have outstanding reputations as organizations that are leading the way in their respective disciplines, and it is our pleasure to work with such an esteemed and forward-thinking institution."
